Mary Hirn Fund

The Mary Hirn Fund is in honor of Mary Hirn. Mary, along with her husband Al, was a Co-Founder of NCLL. She put her heart and soul in to this League, and we will always be grateful for her contributions. Mary’s goal was for every kid to play Little League. In 2010, Mary passed away but she will never be forgotten.

Starting in 2011, NCLL has celebrated her legacy through the Mary Hirn Fund. The Mary Hirn Fund consists of money set aside to be used to aid families who have difficulties in paying the entire registration fee. Rather than simply waiving registration fees, Mary would encourage families to pay a portion of the fee and then “work” for NCLL to help pay off the balance. For example, families could work in the concession stand at a predetermined hourly rate. Mary also encouraged eligible families to pay their balance in small monthly increments.

In keeping with the spirit of Mary’s innovative system, NCLL is committed to using the Mary Hirn Fund as a resource in very much the same way. After all, every kid should be given the opportunity to play Little League Baseball!
